Mother/Self
2025—On Going
Photos and objects that once belonged to my mother now belong to me.
They are situated in the time and place
when they were made
or when they first came into her life.
Story and perspective are tied to
who she had been, how others had seen her,
and what surrounded her then.
But are they?
Inspired by John Berger’s statement,
“The relation between what we see and what we know is never settled,”
I am beginning this project as though it is a
memory improvisation game.
