Born and raised in Minnesota, I have lived and worked in Colorado for the past thirty years. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY; an MFA from Warren Wilson College, Swannanoa, NC; and a Certificate in Documentary Practice and Visual Storytelling from the International Center of Photography, New York, NY. I am a member of the Tacet Eye collective in NYC and the Colorado Photographic Arts Center in Denver, CO.
As an interdisciplinary artist and educator, I believe in a media landscape that is inclusive, just and ethical, centering community wisdom and intention in every project. My approach is to collaborate with people and communities, and letting stories unfold organically. My style is intimate and textural, incorporating words, drawings, other creative art forms, and collaborative methodologies.
I look for patterns, palettes, slants of light, and pauses. I listen for white space, interruptions, howls and whispers.
I wait as long as it takes.
